Kirkland Pulls The Plug On Column After 13 Years

Humorist Gordon Kirkland Joins BookTelevision's 3-Day Novel Contest Live Television Event
After a successful first season, BookTelevision is once again bringing 12 writers chosen from hundreds of candidates from across Canada to participate in the world's most grueling literary competition, the " 3-Day Novel Contest, " live on national television. Gordon Kirkland In A Hometown Appearance
Award-winning Canadian author, Gordon Kirkland is wrapping up his One Of Those Decades Tour with a hometown appearance at Heron's Bookstore in Pitt Meadows on June 30, 2007.
This is the final event dedicated to Kirkland's fourth book, I Think I'm Having One Of Those Decades . Kirkland recently returned from the US launch of his fifth book in New York. The new book will have its Canadian launch in September.

Canadian Humorist Returns To The Erma Bombeck Faculty
It's almost a year away, but the 2008 Erma Bombeck Writers Workshop is already assembling the faculty for what has become the premier humor writing gathering in North America. The workshop is held every two years at the late Erma Bombeck's alma mater, the University of Dayton, in Ohio.

Kirkland's New York Autographing Session To Benefit The Book Industry Foundation
Gordon Kirkland will open the tour for his newest book, I May Be Big But I Didn't Cause That Solar Eclipse , at BookExpo-America in New York June 1-3, 2007. During the event, he will be taking part in a special autographing session to introduce booksellers to his latest collection of short humor. All proceeds from the sales at this event will go to The Book Industry Foundation, comprised of the American Booksellers Foundation For Free Expression (ABFFE ) and the Association of American Publishers Get Caught Reading Campaign. Kirkland's publisher, AuthorHouse, will donate the books for the signing and Kirkland will donate his royalties from those books.

Delay Launching Kirkland's 4th Book In Canada Finally Resolved
I Think I May Be Having One Of Those Decades (AuthorHouse, 2006), Gordon Kirkland's fourth collection of short humour was launched in the United States in March of 2006, in conjunction with his appearance as a keynote speaker at the Erma Bombeck Writer's Workshop at the University of Dayton.
The original plan was to give the book its Canadian launch last September. That had to be amended when Hushion House, the distributor Kirkland's American publisher was using in Canada, suddenly went bankrupt in July of 2006.

Gordon Kirkland To Release His Fifth Collection Of Short Humor
Award-winning Canadian author, syndicated columnist, and entertainer Gordon Kirkland announced today that work has been completed on his fifth collection of short humor. His material has made him a reader and audience favorite throughout Canada and the United States. The book will be published by AuthorHouse in the United States and launched June 1 st at BookExpo-America in New York, where Kirkland will be one of the featured signing authors.

Kirkland Repeats As Leacock Award Of Merit Winner
Orillia, ON - British Columbia based author and syndicated columnist Gordon Kirkland has won his third Stephen Leacock Award of Merit for his 2005 book, When My Mind Wanders It Brings Back Souvenirs . Kirkland had previously won the award in 2000 and 2005. The Award of Merit is the runner-up award to the Stephen Leacock Medal, this year won by another BC-based author, Arthur Black .

Kirkland Three-peats In Leacock Nominations
Canadian author, syndicated columnist and entertainer Gordon Kirkland has been named one of the five finalists for the 2006 Stephen Leacock Award For Humour for his third book When My Mind Wanders It Brings Back Souvenirs (AuthorHouse, 2005).
This is the third time Kirkland has been named a finalist for the award. His first book Justice Is Blind - And Her Dog Just Peed In My Cornflakes (Harbour Publishing, 1999) and his second, Never Stand Behind A Loaded Horse (Thistledown Press, 2004) both received the Leacock Award of Merit as runners up to the winners in 2000 and 2005.

Full Speed Ahead For Canadian Humor Writer Gordon Kirkland
Canadian humorist Gordon Kirkland is enjoying what will surely be his busiest year since he started writing his syndicated humor column in 1994. Fresh from starting his 2006 appearance tour in San Diego February 17th , he has very little time to relax.
"While I was in San Diego , I received word that my new book had just been released to the distribution channels in the United States ," he said from his home in Pitt Meadows, BC. "That has set a lot of wheels in motion, meaning there will be little time to rest before my next appearance."
